into Peru

28 February 2005

From Tacna to Arequipa, the landscape was featureless, barren hilly dessert.
Dull and brown. I wondered whether the rest of Peru was going to be the same… glad it wasn’t.

The green paper was an example of our daily expenses record. We took rough/recycle paper from anything that we can find: leaflets, napkins, forms, etc.

fuming but almost frozen

25 to 27 February 2005

We were ill prepared for the El Tatio Geysers tour. Under dressed, we almost got froze-bitten. Our lip turned black and our skin itched like crazy.

exploding pens, snacks and washing detergent on bus to Atacama

23 to 24 February 2005

We had another ‘rest day’ in Salta before our high-altitude bus ride to San Pedro de Atacama. Along the way, the sceneries were eye-popping. Head-popping too.
I think it was the high altitude at work. Our pens, packets of chips/biscuits and detergent popped too. What a mess!

taking a day off from travelling

22 February 2005

We had a relaxing day in Salta today. It was almost like a rest day. But looked like we still did quite a lot.

These two flowers were from San Bernardo Hill. And we bought a radio.

Salta to Cafayate to Salta

18 to 21 February 2005

From green valleys to cacti wonderland to Martian-like landscapes to wine factory to rockscape fantasy. Some of these places that were along the way looked like bouldering heavens to me.
