Palenque, the Mayan pyramids in a jungle setting

09 April 2005

This is the best Mayan ruins we’ve visited in Mexico. It’s situated in a green
jungle setting. That made the walking around and exploring the ruins under
the hot sun less tiring.

bird watching in Celestun

07 to 08 April 2005

We went bird watching in Celestun. Two hours away from Merida, Celestun has
a popular boat trip to spot gulls, brown pelicans, white pelicans, cormorants, American oyster-catchers, and lots of Caribbean Flamingos.

underground cave swimming

05 to 06 April 2005

From Valladolid, other than Chichen-Itza, we visited Cenote Dzitnup. It’s a beautiful and serene underground cave-well with massive limestone formation. There’s an inviting blue water pool in the cave. So inviting that I had to jump in for a swim.
