touristing in Patagonia
30 to 31 January 2005
Then we entered Chile. Patagonia Chile. Puerto Natales. It’s getting really cold again. Why did we send some of our cold wear home? Although my dream was to trek the ‘W’, we took a touristy minibus tour of Torres del Paine instead. Why? Nevermind…

How beautiful can this be!
End of January 2005.
walking on ice
26 to 29 January 2005
Actually it felt more like walking in the clouds. What a fantastic experience!
We went on a trek on the Perito Moreno Glacier. With crampons. A first for me,
and also a first for us. It was well worth the 21 hours bus ride from Puerto Madryn, and the expensive cost of the glacier walk.

My sketch of the crampons.
And my on-site drawing of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
After the mini glacier ‘trek’, I was ready to buy a T-shirt with a Patagonia Trekking Zone icon.
‘mind-our-language’ in Spanish
20 to 24 January 2005
We took basic Spanish lessons in Buenos Aires. Three hours a day for five days.
It wouldn’t help us hold long conversations with the locals. But hopefully it would help us communicate a little bit better through South America.

Our last day of school.
I took a lot of photos of crosses at Cementerio de la Recoleta.
And composed this picture back in our room.
Wild wind fun in Peninsula Valdes. Guanacos, sealions, penguins and elephants seals. Our camera never stop clicking.
the loooong bus to Buenos Aires
12 to 19 January 2005
From Puerto Iguazu, we south-bounded for more of Argentina. But first,
a more than 19 hours overnight bus to Buenos Aires. Luckily bus was great.
Almost horizontal seat. Three movies. And great meals and snacks.

Cama Total. The bed-seat?
We took a day trip to Tigre. And discovered instant noodles which we ended up secretly cooking in our hotel room almost everyday here.
Our crash course of Spanish started today. We were hoping it would help with our travels through South America and Mexico.
My phone charger died. So I had to buy one here. We also purchased some really weird stuffs. Don’t know why. Maybe we were hit by some sort of shopping fever.
