from biting coldness in Brasov to constant wetness in Budapest
10 to 14 October 2004
Even in the sun, my fingers were still frozen stiff during our time in Brasov.
There were a lot of beggers and homeless people around. I wondered how hard their lives must be.

This is a drawing of the altar in the private home we stayed in during our time in Brasov. We slept in the living room, while the rest of the family moved around in the other parts of the apartment.
It’s so wet here that I had to alter this postcard to reflect the true Budapest I experienced.
back into expensive Western Europe and back into affordable Eastern Europe
04 to 09 October 2004
Salzburg, Austria to be exact. After some time in relatively cheap Eastern Europe, this city was hurting our budget. But after just four days in Austria, we crossed back into Eastern Europe. Sighisoara, Romania.

I took some time off from a walk to draw this view of Salzburg from the hills that’s alive with the sound of music.
Simply sketching Sighisoara after a lunch break.
There’s always time for a cafe break in Sighisoara.
And it’s cheap too.
packed parcel, packed Prague
01 to 03 October 2004
Prague is packed with way too many tourists and travellers like us. Maybe that’s why they are now charging entrance fees to walk on Golden Lane.

We mailed our first parcel home from Prague.
After Prague, we took a bus to Cesky Krumlov.
See the postcard? That’s a picture of this tiny beautiful town.
This is my sketch of Ceske Budejovice. It’s a beautiful town a short way from Cesky Krumlov.
